Shoal Lake Leisure Services

Shoal Lake Leisure Services was formed by the Town and Rural Municipal Councils in August, 2008 by amalgamating the Community Hall Board, Joint Community Centre Board (Communiplex) and the Parks Board.  A Community Events Coordinator was hired and the Leisure Services Office opened in the R.M. Office at the end of September. In November of 2010 the office was relocated to the Old Town Office at 438 Station Road. Board members are:

Shoal Lake Leisure Services exists to:

  • attract and create events and activities to use our facilities

  • manage and maintain facilities at the Communiplex, Community Hall and Lakeview Park

  • offer recreational and leisure programming to all citizens of the Municipality of Shoal Lake, including Oakburn

COMMUNITY EVENTS & FACILITIES COORDINATOR

Shoal Lake Leisure Services is accepting applications for a Community Events & Facilities Coordinator.  This is a permanent full-time position responsible for working with the Leisure Services Board and other community organizations to coordinate existing events, attract and create new events. Manage the municipal leisure facilities (Shoal Lake Communiplex, Shoal Lake Community Hall, and Lakeview Park), and coordinate recreational programming for the citizens of the Municipality of Shoal Lake.  Start date as soon as possible. Salary dependent on experience. 

Qualifications required:

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team with boards, committees, and volunteers

·         Ability to develop and monitor budgets

·         Relevant post-secondary training, e.g. Recreation Management, Business Administration, Tourism & Hospitality, Community Development

·         Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

·         Valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a vehicle

·         Experience supervising staff an asset

·         Experience preparing grants an asset

·         Experience in events planning and programming an asset

·         Experience in facility management an asset
