Community Development Officer

The Shoal Lake Regional Community Development Corporation is now accepting applications for .75 EFT CDO. This is a 10 month term position which may lead to a permanent contract. The Community Development Officer (CDO) reports to the Shoal Lake Regional Community Development Corporation (CDC). The position commences August 01, 2010, salary range is $22,000-$24,000 per annum depending on experience. Complete job description is available.

The Assiniboine Regional Health Authority requires Emergency Medical Services Professionals to fill employment vacancies on a casual basis. We are looking for motivated, caring, mature individuals to take the 160 hour EM Tech Course which may lead to casual, part-time or full-time employment. Deadline to apply for fall classes is September 15. Starting wage for a licensed EM Tech is $13.89 per hour while out on a call. Wages on standby are 2 hours salary per 8 hour standby. The Shoal Lake Regional Community Development Corporation recently held a community workshop and the following opportunities were identified:

There is a need for the professional services of a dentist and optometrist.
Trades people such as plumbers and electricians are in demand.
Tourism was highlighted as a community priority. Needs were identified in the accommodation (motel, bed and breakfast) and fine dining areas.
Diversifying our agricultural based economy to include agricultural related manufacturing, processing, and livestock services (feed mill, slaughterhouse) were listed as priorities.

The Shoal Lake Regional CDC also offers the Community Works Loans Program which loans up to $10,000 at reasonable rates to people interested in starting or expanding businesses in Shoal Lake and area and the Young Entrepreneur's Program which offers grants and loans to entrepreneurs under 30 years of age.
